The UofT Varsity Mock Trial team is an ambitious program that competes in domestic and international mock trial competitions located in Canada and the United States. As the first officially-recognised UofT St. George Mock Trial team, we pride ourselves for being a proudly Canadian team that provides opportunities for University of Toronto students to gain dynamic experience in and interact with the Canadian and U.S. legal and judicial systems. 

 

As a mock trial team, we aim to foster an environment where pre-law students are able to engage in a diverse array of trial simulations to better prepare for a legal career in the future. The team serves a variety of student interests, including visual performance, legal research, and most predominately, oral advocacy. Participating in the Varsity Mock Trial team provides an unparalleled undergraduate experience that strengthens critical thinking, argumentation, and writing skills, which are useful for all students of all backgrounds.

VMT is unique and incomparable in our law firm organizational structure and our ambitious pursuit to compete internationally. Our team is structured like a law firm with managing and senior partners, senior and junior attorneys, as well as paralegals. This ensures a wide range of roles and positions to make our team accessible and welcome to all students looking to get involved in pre-law activities.
